Activity During WWII

Enlisted in the Army at age 17 in 1943. Basic training in Oregon, Amphibious training in Hawaii. Combat service on Leyte island in the Philippines. Injured by knee mortar at Mt. Kaplan on Leyte. Flown to New Guinea for surgery. Recovered in Baxter Hospital in Washington for one year.
