Entered service February 3, 1943 at camp of the 86th 'Blackhawk' Division at Camp House, Texas. Became Company Clerk as had taken ROTC. Promoted to Private First Class. Transferred to Cannon Company and became driver. 86th Division went to Louisiana for maneuvers. After week leave, was sent to west coast and boarded troop ship President Tyler, headed for New Caledonia. May 18th, 1944, ship crossed the 180th Meridian, bound for Tokyo. September 1944, assigned to 81st Division on Angaur, which went back to New Caledonia for rest and more training. On May 3, 1945 Sailed to the Philippine Island of Leyte. Training to attack Japan, when the A Bomb on Japan ended the war. Went to Hirosaki, Japan. Became a military Police Officer and worked with Japan Police on patrol duty until sent home January 1946. Discharged January 30, 1946.
