Served as a tail gunner in the 93rd Bomb Group Squadron. The only survivor of a B-24 Liberator of the 8th Air Force out of England that crashed in Iceland killing 12 distinguished passengers and crew. He received the Distinguished Flying Cross, Air Medal with 3 Oak Leaf Clusters, the Purple Heart, WWII Victory Medal, and European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal.
