Served as a Flight Leader of the 3rd Squadron of the 'Flying Tigers'. He was the only Flying Tigers pilot to make ace in a single day. On December 25, 1941, he downed 5 Japanese aircraft. He was awarded a Six-Star Wing Medal by the Chinese for helping to defeat the Japanese. Continued as a civilian transport pilot for a Chinese national airline.
