Bombardier-Nose Gunner, B-17G Flying Fortress #44-8099, tail code Triangle H, 423rd Bomb Squadron, 306th Bombardment Group (The Reich Wreckers), 8th Air Force, U.S. Army Air Force Station #111, Royal Air Force Thurleigh in Bedfordshire, England, European Theatre of Operations. On 22 October 1944, en route to bombard the Hanover industrial centre, at an altitude of 12,000 feet, his aircraft suffered a mid-air collision with B-17G #43-37976 'Lilly Marlene' and crashed into the North Sea.
