Activity During WWII

Served as artillery commander of XIII Corps. He was transferred to the 35th Infantry Division as its artillery commander. He was sent to the European Theater of Operations and participated in many battles in the Netherlands, France, Luxembourg, Belgium, and Germany. For his service, he was awarded the Legion of Merit, four Bronze Star medals and also received American Campaign Medal, American Defense Service Medal, WWII Victory Medal, Army of Occupation Medal, European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with one silver campaign star, Chevalier of the Legion of Honor (France), French Croix de guerre 1939-1945 with Palm, and Knight of the Dutch Order of Orange-Nassau.
