He was sent on reconnaissance missions in Germany territory and selected to bear witness to the liberation of Dachau. Received the Good Conduct Medal, WWII Victory Medal, European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with five bronze stars, and a Distinguished Unit Badge.
