Served in the U.S. Navy from April 10, 1944 to April 24, 1946. Became a gunner's mate for the 7th Fleet in various locations in the American and Pacific Theaters including New Guinea and San Francisco. Served aboard the USS Sibley APA-206 (Attack Transport) which ferried U.S. Marines and cargo to Iwo Jima, Okinawa and Japan. Awarded the American Theater, Asiatic-Pacific Theater and WWII Victory Medals.
