He served in the 511th Parachute Infantry of the 11th Airborne Division. His unit fought in New Guinea and in the Philippine Islands, liberating Corregidor and Cabanatuan Prisoner of War camp. Highly decorated he also earned the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star Medal for his sacrifices and personal valor.
