Served as Sixth Army Artillery Officer and participated in the Bismarck-Archipelago. In May 1944 he assumed command of 41st Infantry Division Artillery and led his command in the New Guinea campaign, Southern Philippine Islands campaign. After the end of the war, he participated in the occupation of Japan. Received the Air Medal, Legion of Merit with oak cluster, Bronze Star Medal, and Silver Star.
