Served as a paratrooper in the 505th Parachute Infantry Regiment, part of Major General's James Gavin's 82nd Airborne Division. He was killed in action during Operation Market Garden near Arnhem, the Netherlands on September 20, 1944. Received the Purple Heart posthumously.
