Medical Corps, First Aid Man. Served in campaigns at Makin, Saipan and Okinawa. Awarded Bronze Star for heroic service in connection with military operations against the enemy at Saipan, Mariana Islands on 23 June 1944. When an enemy ammunition dump was set on fire, a soldier was lying seriously wounded from flying shrapnel caused by exploding shells. he, a company aid man, with disregard for his own personal safety left his place of cover, crawled to the wounded man and administered first aid, calming, protecting and remaining with him through the night.
