Activity During WWII

He Served with the 4th Infantry Division from February 22, 1942 until October 5th, 1945, first with Company 'A', 12th Infantry Regiment and then with the Band. Attended General Theodore Roosevelt’s burial on July 14th, 1944 and Liberation of Paris on August 25th, 1944. After D-Day he was stationed in Stavelot (Belgium) and housed with local family for six weeks. Had to provide guard duty to the rear echelon in Spa where 1st Army had put its Headquarters. He left the town of Stavelot just before the Battle of the Bulge started. Received the Good Conduct Medal and the European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Ribbon. Also received credit for participation in Campaigns of Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland, Central Europe, Ardennes.
