Activity During WWII

Enlisted July 9, 1945 at Fort Sheridan, Illinois. Was shipped out from New Jersey December 1945 to Le Havre, France, then transferred to Camp Lucky Strike staying in tents during the bitter cold winter. Was in Stuttgart, Germany under the 4th Armor, 37th Tank Battalion. Moved to Wetzlar, Germany and worked as a clerk. Before he left Wetzlar he was made a Corporal. Transferred back to the 37th Constabulary in May 1946 and a short time later was transferred as an interpreter for a polish guard unit which pulled guard duties for American complexes. That was the 1036th Labor Supervision Company. He left Europe in January 1947 from a German sea port on a general ship, which was hit by a very bad typhoon storm that busted a seam on the side of the ship. The crippled ship was towed by a British destroyer to the Azores Islands where they boarded a new ship back to the USA. He was loaded on a train back to Fort Sheridan and was discharged February 17, 1947.
