Rank: Private First Class. He was inducted into the United States Marine Corps December 18, 1942 at Seattle, Washington, with recruit training assigned to the Third Recruit Battalion Training Regiment; Marine Corps Base in San Diego, California. Upon his graduation from Boot Camp, he was transferred to Camp Pendleton in Oceanside, California for combat training. Served in the Communication Section with the First Provisional Marine Brigade in the Central Pacific Theater of Operations, assigned to India Company, Third Battalion and Fourth Marine Regiment. His Brigade participated in the amphibious assault on the Island of Guam (Dates of Battles: July 21-August 10, 1944) Code Name: Operation Forager. Killed in Action Friday, July 21, 1944 during combat operations against the Imperial Japanese forces, and buried in the Brigade cemetery, located on the Orote Peninsula. After the cessation of hostilities with Japan, the family of this Marine requested that his remains be transferred to Honolulu. He was laid to rest February 16, 1949 in the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific, ‘Punchbowl’ Hawaii. This American Patriot was awarded the Purple Heart posthumously, for his ultimate sacrifice in defense of his country.
