Initially assigned to Company C, 508th, he was later transferred to Company F, 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment. He jumped into Normandy and served throughout WWII with that unit. He received the Bronze Star Medal, the Distinguished Unit Badge with one oak leaf cluster, the Purple Heart with two oak leaf clusters and others. Wounded in Noville, Belgium.
