Served as a photographer and photojournalist war correspondent for Vogue. Covered the London Blitz and traveled across Europe recording the liberation of concentration camps and the siege of St. Malo in France. She also witnessed the liberation of Paris, the Battle of Alsace, and the horrors of the first Allied soldiers arriving in concentration camps at Buchenwald and Dachau. At the end of the war, she sent telegrams to Vogue urging the publishing of photographs from the camps. This was a consequence of people’s disbelief at such atrocities.
