Joined the regular Army on 7 September 1939 and when war was declared he switched from the Regular Army to the Army Air Corps and became a Radio Operator/Aerial Gunner and ended up in Combat in the Mediterranean Theatre of Operations during WWII in the 310th Bomb Group and the 380th Bomb Squadron. He would fly Combat Missions in the B-25 GROOVE HERMIT (and other B-25's) against the Axix Powers in the Mediterranean as a Technical Sergeant radio operator and aerial gunner.
