Activity During WWII

On January 23, 1941, he was inducted into the army at Camp Upton, New York and sent to Fort McClellan, Alabama, assigned to Company F, 105th Infantry, 27th Division. As an infantryman, he maneuvered in Tennessee, Arkansas and Louisiana. In October, 1941, he was released from active duty due to overage. In January of 1942, he was recalled to active duty at Camp Haan, California. With the 27th Division, he left for overseas service in the Pacific. At Honolulu, he was stationed at Schofield Barracks, Hawaii. In December 1942 he returned to the U.S. to attend Officers Candidate school at Fort Benning, Georgia, where he was graduated as Second Lieutenant. He then had charge of a Transportation Corps, landing troops in France, and was in charge of supplies at Plymouth, England. Returning to the U.S., he was reassigned as Overseas Shipping Officer at New York until his release from active duty in November of 1945, when he was placed on the inactive list at rated as First Lieutenant in the Officers Reserve Corps. He served ten months overseas, and holds the Good Conduct Medal and Citation for the performance of duty.
