Rank: Private. Inducted into the United States Marine Corps December 10, 1942 at Denver, Colorado, with recruit training assigned to the Fourth Recruit Battalion Training Regiment; Marine Corps Base in San Diego, California. Upon his graduation from Boot Camp, he was transferred to Camp Pendleton in Oceanside, California for combat training. Served as a Rifleman with the Third Marine Division in the Southwestern Pacific Theater of Operations, assigned to Charlie Company, First Battalion and Third Marine Regiment. His division participated in the Battle of Bougainville (Battle Dates: November 1, 1943–August 21, 1945) Solomon Islands Campaign Code Name: Operation Cherry Blossom. Reported missing in action, lost at sea Thursday, November 2, 1944. In remembrance of the brave, his name is permanently inscribed in the tablets of the missing, memorialized at the Manila American Cemetery Location: Fort Bonifacio, Philippine Islands. In his Memory and Honor, a cenotaph memorial has been placed at the Linn Grove Cemetery in Greeley, Colorado. This American Patriot was awarded the Purple Heart posthumously, for his ultimate sacrifice in defense of his country.
