Activity During WWII

Served in Company D, 34th Infantry Regiment. After the bombing of Pearl Harbor, his unit was loaded onto ships and headed to Hawaii on December 16. During his time in the Pacific, his divisions were stationed in Hawaii and Guadalcanal. It was during his time on Guadalcanal that he contracted malaria and yellow fever and was returned to the States for medical treatment. After 30-day sick leave, he moved to Tyler, Texas, where he completed his military service by training troops.
