Activity During WWII

On January 30th, 1942, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy Reserve. His boot training was in Newport, Rhode Island as Photographer's Mate Third Class. He was transferred to Camp Allan, Norfolk, Virginia, and in August 1942, promoted to Photographer's Mate Second Class. He was at Camp Peary, Williamsburg, Virginia, and at San Diego, California. Upon graduation from the Naval School of Photography at Pensacola, Florida, he was sent to Aerial Gunnery School and later to the Municipal Airport, Jacksonville, Florida, for advanced training in B-24 aircraft. He became 1st Photographer in a Photographic Crew and was standing for departure overseas when the war ended. He received an honorable discharge on September 12, 1945, from Jacksonville, Florida.
