Activity During WWII

He was employed by the War Department at Baltimore, Maryland, prior to his enlistment on August 9, 1944. He took basic training with Field Artillery at Fort Bragg, North Carolina, as a Radio Specialist and advanced training in radio communications, radio theory and radio repair at Fort Sill, Oklahoma. He reported at Fort Ord, California for overseas assignment and left the U.S. from Seattle on May 24, 1946. He was assigned to the 5th Detachment, Second Signal Service Battalion and served as acting First Sergeant. Overseas in the Pacific area he served in Honolulu and Guam. On August 2, 1946, he arrived at Norfolk, Virginia, having the Asiatic-Pacific Medal and a Meritorious award. On August 8, 1946, he was discharged at Fort Dix, New Jersey.
