Prior to his induction on September 10, 1945, he was employed as a radio technician by the Islip Radio Corporation. After his basic training at Keesler Field, Mississippi, he went overseas to Wiesbaden, Germany. There he served with the 22nd communications squadron, troop carrier wing. Awarded the WWII Medal and the Occupation Medal. On February 16, 1947, he was honorably discharged.
