Activity During WWII

he was called into the service on May 12, 1942. Upon being assigned to the Air Corps., he took training at Miami, Florida; Lake Charles, Louisiana; Victoria, Texas; Lincoln, Nebraska, and other Fields. At Lake Charles, he was made Corporal and on July 16, 1943, was graduated from the Army Airplane Mechanics School at Lincoln, qualifying as instrument man for B-24 Bombers. He went overseas with the 788th Bombing Squadron and served in England and Italy. In Italy he was with the 859th Bombing Squadron. Awarded six Stars and a Squadron presidential Citation. he returned to the U.S. from Naples on September 27, 1945 and was honorably discharged from the Army at Fort Dix, New Jersey on October 2, 1945.
