Activity During WWII

His service with the Army was with Battery B, 7th Coast Artillery, Anti-Aircraft Crew. While overseas he transferred to the 12th Air Force, serving with the 444th Bomber Squadron, 320th Bomber Group, as an Armorer. He participated in the following battles and campaigns for which he received seven battle Stars: North Africa, Central Europe, North Apennines, Northern and Southern France, Rome-Arno Section and Germany. Decorations and Citations received: American Defense Service Medal, Presidential Unit Citation, European-African-Middle Eastern Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, One Cluster, Croix de Guerre with Palm. He was returned to the U.S. and honorably discharged at Separation Center, Fort Dix, New Jersey on October 17, 1945 after having attained a total of 103 points to his credit.
