Enlisted in the Army Air Force on 20 December 1940. He was a Master Sergeant in the 24th Base Headquarters and Air Base Squadron, 2nd Air Depot Group, 23rd Air Base Group. He served in North France, Rhineland, and Central Europe from 8 October 1943 to 6 April 1945 when he was transferred to the Asiatic-Pacific Theatre of Operations. He was honorably discharged on 9 September 1945. Medals received were: Asiatic-Pacific Theatre Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, European-African-Middle Eastern Theatre Service Medal, American Defense Service Medal, Six (6) Overseas Service Bars, WWII Victory Medal, Honorable Service Lapel Button and from the French Government, the Croix de Guerre with Etoile Bronze.
