Activity During WWII

He was employed at the Central Islip State Hospital prior to his induction on March 4, 1941. He received training at Fort Totten, New York and was on maneuvers in North Carolina and at Fort Lewes, Delaware, at College Point, New York and at Clauson Point, New York. In August 1942 he left for overseas and landed in southern England. Attached to the Medical Corps, 62nd Coast Artillery, Anti-Aircraft Medical Detachment, he was a member of the American forces that invaded North Africa. Further action was seen in the Tunsian and Sicilian campaigns, as well as in the Rome-Arno sector in Italy. Later, he was a member of the armed forces that invaded Southern France. From France he crossed the Rhine with the Seventh Army and saw more action in Germany and Austria. He was awarded the African Campaign Ribbon, the Army Defense Ribbon, the Good Conduct Medal, the European theater Campaign Ribbon and two Battle Stars. He was discharged on September 15, 1945 at Fort Dix, New Jersey.
