He was an attendant at the Central Islip Hospital when he was inducted into the Army on April 28, 1941. He received his basic training at Fort Housted. Then he served as a military policeman in New York City for one and a half years. Later he was transferred to the Medical Department. He was awarded the American Defense Medal, the WWII Victory Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. On December 22, 1945, he was discharged at Fort Dix, New Jersey.
