Rank: Private First Class. Inducted into the United States Army March 11, 1943 at Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, with recruit and combat training at Camp Laguna, Pomona, California. Served as a Rifleman with the Eighth Infantry ‘Golden Arrow’ Division in the European Theater of Operations. Assigned to Easy Company, Second Battalion and 121st Infantry Regiment, attached to the U.S. First Army. Killed in action December 5, 1944 during a combat engagement against the German armed forces on the Roer River Location: Brandenberg, Germany. Personnel from the 603rd Quartermaster Corps buried him at Henri-Chapelle battlefield cemetery; Ellpen, Belgium. After the cessation of hostilities in Europe, the family of this Soldier requested that he be buried at Henri-Chapelle American Cemetery Location: Henri-Chapelle, Belgium. In his memory and Honor, a cenotaph has been placed at Greenwood Cemetery in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. This American Patriot was awarded the Purple Heart with two Oak Leaf Clusters posthumously, for his ultimate sacrifice in defense of his country.
