Activity During WWII

Entered active service on 28 November 1942. After training, assigned to Headquarters Battery, 118th Field Artillery Battalion, 30th Infantry Division. Engaged in combat across the European Theater of Operations. Fought in 5 major campaigns. Recipient of the following decorations: SILVER STAR for gallantry in action and the BRONZE STAR MEDAL. Additionally awarded the DISTINGUISHED UNIT AWARD (currently the Presidential Unit Citation), MERITORIOUS UNIT CITATIONS, the Good Conduct Medal, European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with 5 Battle Stars and the WWII Victory Medal. Also, the CROIX de GUERRE awards from both France and Belgium.
