Activity During WWII

On March 3, 1940 he was called for Army service and sent to Fort Totten New York for training with the 62nd Coast Artillery. Later he was transferred to the 1219th Service Unit and then to the 12th Armored Division at Camp Barkley, Texas. He was sent overseas on September 9, 1944 and arrived in England on October 1. On reaching Rouen, France, he was attached to the 7th Army for the battle of Eastern France dating from December 7, 1944 to March 17, 1945. On the later date his outfit was loaned to Patton's Third Army for the Battle of Eastern France and moved to Haute Sierck, Trier. Following this he was engaged in the battle for Germany from March 18 to May 14, 1945. He was sent to Heidenheim, Germany, where he remained until November 9, 1945. In December he arrived at Fort Dix, New Jersey and was discharged on December 8, 1945.
