Activity During WWII

On October 26, 1942, he was called for service in the U.S. Army and was assigned to the Medical Detachment as driver and repair man for ambulances. He took his basic training at Seymour Johnson Field, Goldsboro, North Carolina. He left for overseas on March 10, 1945, arriving at Beauvais, France, and was assigned to a 3rd Echelon Ordnance Platoon, 1605th Medium Automotive Maintenance, as a mechanic. The platoon was shifted to Tirelmont, Belgium, and was awarded a service plaque. From there he moved across Germany to join the 9th Air Force Supply Headquarters, on the outskirts of Munich. The platoon was awarded two Battle Stars. On November 15, 1945, he was discharged from Fort Dix, New Jersey.
