Activity During WWII

Enlisted October 1940 into the National Guard 40th Division, 222nd Field Artillery, B Battery of Guns. Transferred to Army when Hawaii was bombed. March 17th to December 14th stayed in Camp San Luis Obispo until December 5 when Japan bombed Hawaii, then moved to Escondido California. April 20, 1942 left for Fort Lewis, Washington. June 30 left for Yakima, Washington. Left for Fort Lewis, Washington July 27. August 12 left for Pittsburg, California. August 23 Hawaii. August 23, left the USA at 12:30 p.m., arrived in Honolulu September 1. Arrived in the Kawai Island September 4th 1942 and in the town Nawiliwili. Stayed in Nawmala until September 19th, then moved to the Hanipepe Canyon. The rain drove us to the mouth of the Canyon and May 16, transferred to 'Z' Battery at Barking Sands. Stayed until July 17, 1943, then we were transferred (with 'B' Battery) to the vicinity of Walalua or Brodie camp. October 12 came to Schofield Barracks. December 20, 1943, left Honolulu, stayed in Guadalcanal. May 1, to New Britain where he got an infection in his ear. January 9, 1945 Arrived in the Admiralty Islands for a few days then to New Guinea. Sailed back to the Admiralty Islands on the 24th. On the 27th, headed toward the Philippine Islands. landed on the Island of Luzon for an invasion. April 18th landed in Panay, then on April 3rd, sailed for Negros Island. Served in the Pacific Theater of Operations. Discharged October 15, 1945.
