Activity During WWII

He was inducted into the U.S. Army on March 16, 1943. He received his basic training at Miami Beach, Florida and at Amarillo Field, Texas. As a mechanic with Ground Crew Aircraft he was stationed at Chanute Field, Illinois; Clovis Field, New Mexico, and at Salina, Kansas. In September 1944 he went overseas to the Pacific Theatre and served with the 20th Air Force at Saipan. He underwent fifteen Japanese air raids while on Saipan. Later he was transferred to Guam and Pearl Harbor. He earned the Asiatic-Pacific Ribbon with three Battle Stars. After serving overseas for sixteen months, he returned to the United States from Hawaii on December 15, 1945. On December 28th, he was honorably discharged from Camp Dix, New Jersey.
