Activity During WWII

In January of 1941 he enlisted and received his basic training at Fort Ethan Allen, Vermont, with the 187th Field Artillery. His Unit was later changed to the 771st Tank Destroyer Battalion. In July 1942 he was accepted into Parachute School at Fort Benning, Georgia, and upon completion of this training he was assigned to Company A, 505th Parachute Infantry, 82nd Airborne Division, as a platoon sergeant. On July 10, 1943, He was taken prisoner in Sicily and was not freed until April 29, 1945.
