Activity During WWII

Served from 1943 to 1946 in the 23rd Marine Regiment, 2nd Marine Division; 28th Marine Regiment, 5th Marine Division. He was a Navajo Code Talker and trained in San Diego, California. Served on Tinian, Saipan, Okinawa, Guam, Iwo Jima and Kwajalein Island. At the Battle of Iwo Jima, six Navajo Code Talkers worked around the clock during the two days of battle. These six sent and received more than 800 messages-all without error. Received a Purple Heart and a Congressional Silver Medal.
