He enlisted in the Construction Corps of the U.S. Navy on August 12, 1942. Attached to Construction Battalion Maintenance Unit 519, he served on Bora Bora in the Society Islands, South Pacific and New Caledonia. When Battalion Unit 519 was disbanded, he was assigned to Construction Battalion 82 in January of 1945. His awards include the WWII Victory Medal, the American Theatre and the Asiatic-Pacific Ribbons. On October 4, 1945, He was honorably discharged from Lido Beach Separation Center.
