Rank: Private. He served in the United States Marine Corps as a Rifleman and assigned to Baker Company, First Battalion, Third Marine Regiment and Third Marine Division Location: Southwestern Pacific Theater of Operations. His division participated in the Battle of Bougainville (Battle Dates: November 1, 1943–August 21, 1945) Solomon Islands Campaign Code Name: Operation Cherry Blossom. On November 7, 1943 he was killed in action, during combat operations against the Imperial Japanese Forces, with burial in the U.S. Armed Forces Cemetery, Finschaffen #5 British New Guinea. Succeeding hostilities with Japan, the family of this Marine requested that he be buried with Military Honors at Manila American Cemetery Location: Fort Bonifacio, Manila, Philippine Islands. This American Patriot was awarded the Purple Heart posthumously, for his ultimate sacrifice in defense of his country.
