Activity During WWII

On February 2, 1942, he entered the service of the U.S. Marine Corps. He went through his basic training at Parris Island, South Carolina, then attended the Naval Aviation School, Jacksonville, Florida. As aviation assistant's mate he served with the 9th Marine Aircraft Wing. In the Pacific Theatre of Operations he served with the 1st Marine Wing, VMF-214. He returned to the U.S. in 1943 and served with the 3rd, 5th and 9th Air Wings until his discharge at Bainbridge, Maryland on November 30, 1945.
