Rank: Sergeant. Inducted into the United States Army February 19, 1941 at Camp Blanding, Florida. Following his infantry training, he was deployed to the European Theater of Operations. Served as a Squad Leader and assigned to the 120th Infantry Regiment, 30th Infantry ‘Old Hickory’ Division, attached to the U.S. First Army. His division participated in the Battle of the Bulge against the German armed forces (Battle Dates: December 16, 1944-January 25, 1945) Ardennes-Alsace Campaign. On December 30, 1944 he was killed in action, with burial in the Henri-Chapelle Battlefield Cemetery, Ellpen, Belgium. Succeeding hostilities in Europe, the family of this Soldier requested that he be buried with Military Honors at Henri-Chapelle American Cemetery Location: Henri-Chapelle, Belgium. This American Patriot received the following decorations posthumously: Bronze Star and the Purple Heart. The Bronze Star awarded for Bravery, Act of Merit and Meritorious Service in Combat, and the Purple Heart for his ultimate sacrifice.
