Rank: Hospital Apprentice First Class. Inducted into the United States Navy July 9, 1943 at Detroit, Michigan, with recruit training at the U.S. Naval Training Station San Diego, California. Upon his graduation from boot camp, he was transferred to Baker Company, Field Medical School Battalion; Camp Elliott Marine Corps Base San Diego. Served as a Navy Corpsman, Combat Medic and assigned to Headquarters Company, Third Battalion, Twenty-Fifth Marine Regiment and Fourth Marine Division Location: Western Pacific Theater of Operations. His division participated in the amphibious assault on the Volcanic Island of Iwo Jima (Battle Dates: February 19-March 26, 1945) Operation Detachment. Reported missing in action February 24, 1945 during combat operations against the Imperial Japanese forces. In remembrance of the brave, his name is permanently inscribed in the tablets of the missing, memorialized at Honolulu Memorial Location: Honolulu, Hawaii. This American Patriot was awarded the Purple Heart posthumously, for his ultimate sacrifice in defense of his country.
