Rank: Lieutenant Junior Grade. Inducted into the United States Navy August 5, 1941 at Washington, District of Columbia, with recruit training at the U.S. Naval Reserve Aviation Base in Washington DC. Upon his graduation from boot camp, he accepted his appointment as an Aviation Cadet, U.S. Navy Reserve. After the completion of the Advanced Flight Training Program May 22, 1942, he accepted his commission of Ensign and Pilot Wings. He flew the Navy R4D Aircraft assigned to the Air Transport Squadron VR-7, and based at the U.S Naval Air Transport Service Miami, Florida. On October 12, 1943 he departed Zandery Airfield with two crew members and three passengers on an inspection tour. Shortly after take-off his aircraft went down, crashing in the jungle, for an unknown reason two miles northeast of Zandery Airfield, Puerto Rico. He was originally interred by his Brothers-in-Arms at the Fort Buchanan Cemetery, Puerto Rico. Succeeding hostilities, his family requested that he be buried with Military Honors at Arlington National Cemetery Location: Fort Myer Arlington, Virginia, with interment May 3, 1948. This American Patriot died in the Line of Duty, while serving his country with Pride and Honor.
