Activity During WWII

Rank: Aviation Radioman Third Class. He served in the United States Navy as a Radio Operator in the R4D Aircraft and assigned to the Air Transport Squadron VR-7. His squadron was based at the U.S Naval Air Transport Service Miami, Florida. On October 12, 1943 he departed Zandery Airfield Puerto Rico with three passengers on an inspection tour. Shortly after take-off his aircraft went down, crashing two miles northeast of Zandery Airfield. He was originally interred by his Brothers-in-Arms at the Fort Buchanan Cemetery Location: Puerto Rico. Succeeding hostilities, his family requested that he be buried with Military Honors at Lakeview Cemetery Location: Coleraine, Minnesota. This American Patriot died in the Line of Duty, while serving his country with Pride and Honor.
