Rank: Lieutenant Junior Grade. Inducted into the United States Navy May 9, 1941 from New York. Upon his graduation from Officer Candidate School ‘OCS’ he accepted his commission as an Ensign, U.S. Navy Reserve. Served with the Air Transport Squadron VR-7, and based at the U.S Naval Air Transport Service Miami, Florida. On October 12, 1943, he was aboard the R4D Aircraft as an observer, taking-off from Zandery Airfield, Puerto Rico on an inspection tour. Shortly after take-off the aircraft went down, crashing two miles northeast of Zandery Airfield. He was originally interred by his Brothers-in-Arms at the Fort Buchanan Cemetery Location: Puerto Rico. Succeeding hostilities, his family requested that he be buried with Military Honors at Saint John Baptist Cemetery Location: Valatie, New York. This American Patriot died in the Line of Duty, while serving his country with Pride and Honor.
