She entered the service of the Army Nursing Corps on April 2, 1945 and completed her basic training. She was stationed with the Ground Forces at Mason General Hospital in Brentwood New York for eight months, and at Greenhaven Hospital for two months. Her work consisted in experimenting with treatments for malaria. She was honorably discharged from the service on February 1, 1946 at Greenhaven, New York.
