Activity During WWII

On October 3, 1942, he enlisted in the Navy. He was attached to the Naval Air Station at Quonset Point, Rhode Island. He specialized as a gunner aboard ship. He was there in late 1942 and was next reported in the South Pacific area. Aboard the USS Hudson he engaged in the invasion of Green Island and in the anti-shipping sweeps through the St. George's Channel along the coast of New Island. His ship also participated in the bombardment of enemy installations on Choiseul, Saipan. Tinian and Guam. His ship was in five major campaigns. He was home on leave on Christmas of 1944 after 17 months overseas. He was discharged on November 29, 1945 from Lido Beach, New York.
