She wanted to do her part in the service to her country. She joined the Navy at the Naval Recruiting Center San Antonio. She received her military training in Houston, Texas. She served in the American Theater of Operations as a clerk typist. At the end of her tour she was discharged with an Honorable Discharge. She received the Good Conduct Medal and the WWII Victory Medal and the American Theater of Operations medal.
