Activity During WWII

At the age of 38 he was sworn into the Navy at the Military Recruiting Center, Fort Sam Houston, San Antonio, Texas on 17 March, 1944. He received his basic training at the Naval Training station, San Diego, California. He received additional training before being assigned to the USS Defense out of San Diego. He served a total of 16 months before being released from active duty at Camp Wallace, Texas on 6 January, 1946 with an Honorable Discharge.
