Activity During WWII

On September 29, 1942, he was called to service in the Army Air Corps, where he trained for gunner with the Army Air Forces Reserve Training Center, 920th Flight Squadron. He began his basic training at Atlantic City, New Jersey. At Kellogg Field, Michigan, he trained for aircraft mechanics and later went to Camp Santa Anita, California. He operated a crane while overseas with the 8th Air Force Bomb Group 89. He landed in England and served for one year. On December 21, 1944 he returned to the United States and was assigned to the Pacific area, where he served with the 20th Air Force. On January 17, 1946, he left Saipan. He was discharged on February 16, 1946.
